As we kick off the new year, we’re excited to talk about the incredible energy and new developments happening in Springdale, Arkansas. Buffington Homes is delighted to be a part of this dynamic transformation with our community of The Cottages at the Park.
Located on the northwest side of Springdale, The Cottages at the Park is our newest community and is just steps away from Shaw Family Park. This 120-acre city park features four tennis courts, the largest splash pad in the area, an extreme fitness area, two playgrounds, a dog park, two pavilions with restrooms, five ponds, three biking and walking trails, and a large natural area that feels like a preserve. It’s incredible and just one of the many reasons why Springdale is becoming the most ideal place to live.
Around every corner of Springdale, you can see progress. Businesses are expanding. Old spaces are coming back to life. New construction is popping up. The cityscape is transforming to meet the demands of a growing region, and we’re here for it all.
While Springdale has long been an important industrial city for the region with several trucking companies and home to the world headquarters of Tyson Foods, the city is expanding its role as the “healthcare corridor” of Northwest Arkansas.
New health and wellness developments include the Children’s Safety Center, Highlands Oncology, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield regional office building, and the newly announced UAMS Sports & Orthopedic Medicine building.
The retail landscape is also blossoming in the area. For instance, Chick-fil-A anchors a new commercial development called The Crossings on West Sunset Avenue & Gene George Blvd near Sam’s Club. Another commercial development is popping up at the entrance of HarBer Meadows. And, an Aldi grocery store opened in late December near the Mercy Medical Building, MJ’s Pizza, and the Elm Springs Walmart.
The Jones Center, which is a well-loved recreational hub for Northwest Arkansas and features a gym, pool, courts, and an ice rink, is now expanding! The renovations will include all 54 acres where the center currently sits, and it includes an outdoor fitness pad, courts, a plaza for community gatherings, and trails all tied to downtown. There will also be a recreational space, educational and healthcare facilities, a space for nonprofits, and a conference center.
Downtown Springdale, which is a short walk from The Jones Center and just 5 miles from Cottages at the Park, is a haven of exciting developments, things to do, and places to eat.
In addition to fantastic Mexican cuisine, Springdale offers a unique mix of flavors. Bienvenue, which opened in 2023, is a fine French dining experience that offers a unique blend of exquisite flavors, beautiful presentation, and a sophisticated atmosphere that will transport you to a world of allure and beauty.
Also new to downtown is HomeGrown, a breakfast, brunch & lunch eatery featuring locally sourced dishes. They serve cage-free eggs, homemade pastries, fresh-squeezed Orange Juice, Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and more.
Zelli Pasta, a family-owned and operated pasta producer based in Springdale, has a new storefront near The Jones Center where you can purchase freshly packaged pasta and sauces.
Downtown enhancements also include green spaces! Luther George Park is undergoing a facelift, connecting it to Spring Creek and the Razorback Greenway. It will include a Performance Pavilion hosting events for up to 3,000 people, enhanced play spaces, and novel outdoor areas. This project is set to be completed in the summer of 2024.
The Market Center of the Ozarks, scheduled for completion in 2024, is a 45,000-square-foot food hub near East Emma Avenue. This space will offer community learning, commercial kitchens, and crop aggregation capabilities, supporting local farmers, food entrepreneurs, and residents.
You’ll be able to step into history with the 100 West Emma Project. This historic bank building on Emma Avenue is currently undergoing a makeover. With an exterior renovation expected to be completed in March 2024, the 35,000-square-foot building will house food & beverage establishments on the 1st floor, including a one-of-a-kind Onyx Coffee Lab and Gaskins Steakhouse, with office space on the 2nd floor.
Big brands like Hilton are also boosting the local economy with the addition of a five-story boutique-style hotel. Part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection, the hotel will be located at 203 E Emma Avenue between South Commercial and Spring Street and will feature 129 rooms and a restaurant with outdoor dining next to the Razorback Greenway trail.
Looking further ahead, a new two-story Senior Center is in the works, promising an open gathering place, meeting rooms, outdoor areas, and pickleball courts. When we say exciting things are happening in Springdale, we aren’t kidding!
